Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first EP, Pho on October 21 2016, was released on Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in fame. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox first released music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued to post her music online including her independent single Bound. The 21st day of July, 2015. Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat It Out. In the following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. She also appeared on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then on November 13 two new singles, titled The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on November 16th. The track was released as a standalone single in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. This track, which was released with a video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
