Kim Delaney was an American actor from the United States. The actress is best known for her character, Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC series NYPD Blue. For this she was awarded an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of her homemaker mother and high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney lived most of her life with 4 brothers. She envisioned becoming a court reporter during the early years of her life, however she began modelling in high school eventually garnering commercials when she moved to New York. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actor who has appeared involved in numerous television shows, and dramas. Her professional career has been much more lucrative than her personal life. There were two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcohol addiction. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her only son.
